Being bombarded...

When it comes to teaching with technology with students, the attitudeof “this too shall pass” is disappearing exponentially. When you think about it, this shouldn’t be surprising to us because it has been their experience, their reality. We are continuously being bombarded new ideas, new initiatives, new tools, new software, new hardware … and they only last until the going gets tough and then generally we look for something else.

It’s important to experiment with fads, new gadgets, new software and the like, while we want to try new things, it comes back to that haunting question –

Will these new initiatives help us achieve the kind of school or district we want to become?

If we answer that question alone, as we explore all the new and fun stuff, our vision becomes the standard in which we judge new initiatives, new ideas, new activities, and so forth. This helps us not to just jump on the bandwagon of every new idea, new initiative, new tools, new software, new hardware, or new fads that pop up.

What’s your story?
